‘A LA PARILLA’ GROUP

Tango ‘a la parilla’ Group is a curated tango jam session where musicians learn the concept of playing tango without full notation. We play Argentine tango music together in a more improvised way, developing the skill that allows musicians to collaborate casually.

Playing tango music ‘a la parilla’ is a semi-improvised style of playing. It is open to all instruments and doesn’t rely on particular arrangements, which makes it the main way of playing tango in casual sessions, cross-collaborations, parties, etc. This group is a place to learn, discuss, practice the techniques needed for the style, so that you can meet others anytime and play tango. It is also a great place for singers to join in.

This ensemble meets at the Center For Performing Arts in Minneapolis on Wednesday nights, 7:30-8:30pm, and is open to all.

We support the growth of outside tango projects through performance opportunity and resource sharing.
