MARCO TABACMAN

Chicago-based singer Marco Tabacman brings the soul of Argentine tango to contemporary audiences with a voice of warmth, elegance, and emotional gravity. Influenced by the timeless artistry of tango legends Rubén Juárez, Adriana Varela, and Roberto Goyeneche, Tabacman interprets tango with a deep sense of story and expression, balancing reverence for the classics with a contemporary approach.

Born in the US, raised in Argentina with a rich choral tradition, he began singing at age ten and later performed with acclaimed vocal ensembles including Angelica Cantanti under Philip Brown, and the University Singers with Kathy Romey and Matthew Mehaffey. As the featured vocalist with both the Charles Gorczynski Tango Ensemble and Orquesta Típica Kingfield (a cornerstone of the Twin Cities Tango Collective), Tabacman has become a leading voice in the Midwest’s growing tango scene. His performances have taken him to stages including Carnegie Hall in New York, The Ordway in St. Paul, and headlining appearances at the Minnesota Tango Music Festival in 2024 and 2025.

HAVANA QUARTET

Founded in 2017, the Havana Quartet has established itself as a leading ensemble in classical and contemporary music, proudly representing the richness and diversity of Cuban culture.

The quartet is composed of Hansel Pérez Carrero (director, violin), Ana Caridad Frómeta (violin), Amaya Fuentes Sarria (viola), and Denise Hernández Rabeiro (cello), all talented musicians and graduates of the University of the Arts in Havana.

Beyond their work within the quartet, its members have performed with renowned Cuban orchestras such as the Havana Chamber Orchestra, the Liceo de La Habana Orchestra, and Música Eterna, contributing to their country’s vibrant musical landscape.

CARO BERNARDINI TRIO

Born and raised in Buenos Aires in a musical family, Caro has been performing Argentine music since childhood.

After spending half her life in the United States, Caro began blending the sounds of her homeland with other genres and styles that she discovered along the way.

Caro’s music carries the imprint of the many places, people, and traditions that have shaped her: A unique voice that feels both rooted and refreshingly unique within Argentine tango and folklore.

Caro Bernardini - Vocals and Guitar
Charles Gorczynski - Bandoneon
Henry Specker - Contrabass

CHARLES GORCZYNSKI TANGO QUARTET

Minneapolis-based composer and bandoneonist Charles Gorczynski works in contemporary tango, new music, and studio production. He leads the acclaimed modern tango outfits Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet and Redwood Tango Ensemble, and is the director of the Twin Cities Tango Collective.

Charles has been a featured soloist with Bear Valley Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, California Symphony, Mason Bates’ Mercury Soul Orchestra, San Jose Chamber Ensemble, and many other organizations. He has been the bandoneonist with Mariano Barreiro Tango Trio, Maxi Larrea Trio, Maldito Tango Duo, Tango BC Quartet, Alejandro Ziegler Cuarteto, and the Latin Grammy nominated Los Tangueros Del Oeste. Charles has served as bandoneon faculty for Tango For Musicians at Reed College with Tango Sin Fin, the Tanguero Workshop with Julian Peralta, and organizes the MN Tango Music Festival with the Argentine Society of Minnesota.

NORTHWOODS TANGO ENSEMBLE

Northwoods Tango Ensemble is a group in Twin Cities Tango Collective dedicated to studying music for the milongas. The group meets weekly during our seasons, performs for milongas and concerts, and specializes in deep dives into the music of composers like Carlos Di Sarli, Rodolfo Biagi, Juan D’Arienzo, Miguel Caló, Enrique Rodriguez, Aníbal Troilo, and many others from the golden age of tango music.

COMMUNITY TANGO ENSEMBLE

Minneapolis-based local tango ensemble for all, now in our 5th full year. Community Tango Ensemble is the central group of Twin Cities Tango Collective. This ensemble functions as both a band and as a class, because it is a completely open and welcoming way into the music.

ARRASTRES GUITAR TRIO

Arrastres Guitar Trio was formed out of a mutual passion for tango music and the guitar - the original instrument of tango. Guitarists Isaac Marsolek, Michael Stiffman, and Carlos Tolmasky first played together as part of the Twin Cities Tango Collective, sparking jam sessions that soon evolved into focused work on formal arrangements. In early tango history, guitar trios and quartets were the classic accompaniment for legendary singers like Carlos Gardel and Nelly Omar.

Isaac, who is active as a singer-songwriter, now handles much of the trio’s arrangements. Carlos started playing guitar as a teenager in Buenos Aires, even taking some tango lessons during those days, so returning to guitar felt natural as the local tango scene grew. Michael has explored many musical genres and was introduced to tango with the founding of the Twin Cities Tango Collective. He regularly performs with TCTC, Northwoods Orchestra, Tangoso, and plays in a duo with bandoneonist Charles Gorczynski. Additionally, he has played with Tangos al Carbon in Seattle.

TANGOSO

Tangoso is a Minneapolis-based tango orchestra dedicated to playing dance music from the golden age of tango. The members of Tangoso met while honing their craft in the Northwoods Tango Ensemble, an orchestra part of the Twin Cities Tango Collective. Tangoso is comprised of 3 violins, guitar, bass, clarinet, and bandoneon.
